“Try to imagine the best kaleidoscope ever!” (Tori Amos)
My synesthesia allows me to see music and sounds in colours, shapes and textures. In 2018 I started releasing and performing music as neoclassical composer under my project name “Kaleidoscope of Colours ”. Because I had trouble composing on a note level I needed to come up with my own way of writing music. The colours became an integral part of my creative writing process, guiding my choices of tonality, texture, and form. But it was because I´m lacking words when I tried to describe to people how a certain piece of music would look like in my head that I started painting my music pieces.

A Kaleidoscope of Colours
Susanne experiences music, sounds and emotions in colours and shapes. As a neoclassical composer it felt natural after a while to paint her compositions as seen by her inner eye as an additional level of expression. As she paints, she translates her synesthetic perceptions on many levels, depending on what becomes dominant in the moment. She translates harmonies and melodies on to her canvas as well as the overall aura, the piece gets by a certain mood or feeling.
