My most vivid experiences of synaesthesia occur when I lose myself in the kaleidoscopic patterns of music
My most vivid experiences of synaesthesia occur when I lose myself in the kaleidoscopic patterns of music. Every song has a specific pattern made up of textures, colours and shapes, triggered by objective variables such as pitch and instruments. In this way, dancing with synaesthesia shows me that we’re all part of one unified cosmic pattern. Being able to unmask in public and fully interact with my synaesthesia can be a spiritual experience. The synaesthesia paintings transform these subjective experiences into real world physical objects that can be seen and perceived by many people, making my synaesthesia somehow more real.

Everything In Its Right Place at Berghain
Oil on canvas, 2021
Each oil painting is based on a different memory of a time were the colours of the music, location and the energy of my fellow dancers complimented each other perfectly, fusing together into a moment of chaotic harmony. Although each song’s pattern is different, viewers may start to notice repeating structures, such as circular beats, or blue rectangular synths. These visual clues, alongside the title of the painting featuring the title of the music, help the viewers to piece together an understanding of a synaesthete’s perspective, almost like learning a foreign language.
