As an artist with synaesthesia, my work focuses on the visuals I experience when encountering sound, pain, and other stimuli, allowing viewers a glimpse of this unique brain condition. Through my paintings, the audience can take in everyday experiences such as the shapes and colours created by a song, the textures that make up a voice, or the hues of a headache. The colours I choose and the patterns that my brushes form are a direct result of focusing on a given stimulus. My use of acrylic paint offers the strong, rich shades that best depict my perceptions.

Italian

I see Italian as a constantly moving, sharp and jagged language in black, green and white. As an animated conversation unfurls, the voices step on and trip over each other. Each syllable is like a stubbed toe, jarring enough to make me wince. The chaos and sharpness, which are difficult to bear, are depicted in this acrylic painting.

Wind

Both the sound and the feeling of wind are an overwhelming onslaught. Though the visual can be beautiful, the sensation is difficult to tolerate. Strong wind slaps me in the face like hundreds of thin strips of cloth. This acrylic painting depicts these bold, seemingly endless strips of wind.
