My images/objects try to exemplify the disparate aspects which always swirl in my mind when listening to music

According to my involvement in cross-sensory design and acoustics, I am very much interested in the field of multi-sensory connections and its echoes in science, the arts, and music. I usually see sound and music with colors and shapes. Therefore, even sound design for me is a multi-sensory task. Sounds are surrounding us all day, but most of them rarely attract our attention. Some sounds, however, are quite annoying, distracting, or almost unbearable. A variety of such sounds is emitted by my coffee dispenser machine every time I am requesting a cup. I thus try to depict my synaesthetic images.

Four moods in the daily life of a coffee dispenser

The four images depict main inner moods of the machine. They are closely connected to its operation, a series of moving, switching, extruding, etc. processes and sounds of water flow. The images refere to these operations. Motion curves highlight the expression of movement. These sounds are awkward. They are sharp or rough, groaning and moaning, seem to express damage or self-destruction. This negative appearance is only compensated by the expectation of a fabulous cup of coffee with extraordinary smell and unmatching taste. The coffe dispenser shows similarities to a human being: It communicates intrinsic inner motion by means of sound.
